FOODS, SPICES AND HERBS THAT WILL HELP YOUR PAIN CAUSED BY INFLAMMATION

MEATS

Fish is number one on the list. The omega 3 fatty acids block the elements that cause inflammation. Try to eat fish 3 or more times a week. 3 to 6 ounces of salmon, tuna, mackerel and any bony fish are good choices.

DARK LEAFY VEGGIES AND FRUITS

Phytonutrients fight out inflammation. Veggies and fruit are full of them. Spinach, kale and Swiss chard are rich in these nutrients. Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, Brussel sprouts and cauliflower reduces inflammation. I like to roast Brussel sprouts and asparagus. Also, it helps to eat fruit of all different colors.

BEANS AND NUTS

Beans like lentils, kidney beans and black beans are high in phytonutrients. Also, they help with blood sugar. Nuts are high in omega 3 fatty acids and fiber. This makes them good for reducing inflammation.

OLIVE OIL

Olive oil contains a phenolic compound called, oleocanthal, which is very similar to ibuprofen. Extra virgin olive oil has the highest concentration of oleocanthal.

WHOLE GRAINS AND SPICES

Unlike refined grains, whole grains are great at fighting inflammation. Spices like turmeric have polyphenol compounds that interfere with inflammatory pathways.

HERBS

Rosemary contains rosmarinic acid, which is known for its anti-inflammatory effects. Other great inflammation fighters are ginger, devil’s claw and cinnamon.
